China deploys AI technology to enhance surveillance capabilities

<p>Chinese firms have developed software that uses AI to classify data collected on residents, in response to high demand from government agencies looking to improve their surveillance abilities. A review of more than 50 publicly released documents suggests that Chinese entities have purchased &quot;one person, one file&quot; software in the last four years. The technology improves on previous software that just collects data and then leaves it up to people to organize it.</p>
