DoT Blocks Over 2 Crore Fraudulent Connections, Cuts Spoof Calls by 97%
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has successfully blocked more than 2 crore phone connections linked to fraud, reducing spoof calls by a staggering 97% through initiatives like Sanchar Saathi. AI-powered systems have disconnected 78 lakh fraudulent connections and shut down 71,000 compromised points of sale. The DoT also launched a digital intelligence platform and a Financial Fraud Risk Indicator to help financial institutions share and detect scam activity efficiently.
