Founder Launches DetectifAI After Her Grandfather Fell Victim to a Deepfake Voice Scam

After her grandfather was tricked by an AI-generated imitation of his brother’s voice, Tarini Padmanabhuni founded DetectifAI to detect deepfake voices directly on smartphones. Its compact AI models can analyze calls and audio without sending them to the cloud. The startup is initially licensing its technology to phone manufacturers and fraud-prevention companies and already handles more than 100,000 AI-generated calls per month for financial institutions in India.
