HDFC Bank CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan Assures AI Adoption Will Not Lead to Layoffs
HDFC Bank's CEO, Sashidhar Jagdishan, stated that the bank's adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) will not result in layoffs. He emphasized that AI will enhance operational efficiency and shift employees from backend roles to more customer-facing and technology-driven positions. The bank is conducting "lighthouse experiments" in AI, with expected benefits materializing over the next 18–24 months.
