ICE Deploys Cell-Site Simulators, Facial Recognition, Phone Spyware & AI Tools
ICE is using advanced surveillance tools in its deportation operations: fake cell towers (stingrays) to capture mobile signals; contracts with Clearview AI for facial recognition; Paragon spyware deals; phone-unlocking software; access to databases aggregating location and public record data; and Palantir’s case management analytics. Critics warn these technologies risk mass surveillance and data misuse, while ICE claims they’re essential for enforcing immigration laws.
