IIT Alum Rejects $525K Job to Launch AI Startup Giga
Varun Vummadi, an IIT Kharagpur alumnus, famously rejected a lucrative $525,000 (approx. ₹4 crore) quant trading job and a Stanford PhD offer to co-found AI support automation startup Giga in 2023. This risk has paid off, as the San Francisco-based company, which creates voice-based AI agents, has successfully raised $61 million in Series A funding led by Redpoint Ventures.
