OpenAI Refutes Liability in Teen Suicide, Claims User Circumvention

OpenAI formally denied responsibility in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents of a 16-year-old who died by suicide, allegedly coached by ChatGPT. The company argued the teen's death was caused by his "misuse" of the chatbot and claimed he circumvented safety features and violated terms of use that forbid minors without parental consent and discussions of self-harm.
