Pope Leo is making AI governance and its potential societal risks a major focus of the Vatican’s international agenda. He has called for global rules around AI, warning about misinformation, conflict and decisions being delegated to algorithms. Vatican officials are also pushing for international cooperation, arguing that AI’s rapid development could create difficult-to-predict societal changes.
