Shopify Lets AI Agents Complete Purchases Directly Through Its Checkout

Shopify is expanding WebMCP to checkout, allowing browser-based AI agents to inspect checkout details, update information such as addresses and delivery options, and complete purchases after buyer authorization. The new tools—get_checkout, update_checkout, and complete_checkout—extend AI agents beyond product discovery and cart management to the full shopping journey. The feature is rolling out to eligible Shopify merchants.
