Smuggling Under the Radar: Super Micro Staff Detained in Taiwan AI Chip Probe

Two employees at Super Micro's Taiwan unit have been detained, and two others released on bail, amidst a widening investigation into the illegal smuggling of advanced AI servers to China. The hardware contains highly restricted Nvidia chips, violating US export controls. While Super Micro clarified it is not the target of the probe, the company has placed the involved workers on administrative leave and is fully cooperating with Taiwanese authorities.
