Tesla's chief of AI quits

<p>Andrej Karpathy, head of AI at Tesla and a crucial figure in the creation of Autopilot, the firm's driver assistance function that needs human supervision, resigned from the company. Chris Lattner, a former Apple executive, held the leading AI position for six months before Karpathy joined Tesla in 2017. As head of AI, Karpathy oversaw the expansion and creation of Tesla's contentious Autopilot driver assistance system.</p>
