High-Tech "Shark Surveillance Bot" Patrols Beaches to Protect Swimmers
Scientists at California State University’s Shark Lab have created the semi-autonomous Shark Surveillance Bot to track great white sharks off coastlines. The robot listens for tagged sharks, gathers water samples to detect environmental DNA (eDNA), and carries an aerial drone. This combined data gives lifeguards crucial, real-time insights into shark presence and movements to improve beach safety.
