AI Payday: Bloomsbury to Cash In on Historic $1.5B Copyright Settlement

UK publisher Bloomsbury has confirmed it will receive payouts from a landmark $1.5 billion settlement with AI developer Anthropic. The payout resolves claims that Anthropic used copyrighted books without permission to train its Claude AI chatbot. A U.S. court identified 14,087 eligible Bloomsbury titles, each earning about $3,000 to be split equally between authors and the publisher.
