Amazon, Flipkart Push for Export Exemption from India’s E-Commerce FDI Rules

Amazon and Flipkart are lobbying India’s commerce ministry to exempt export operations from existing e-commerce FDI restrictions, enabling them to purchase goods directly from sellers for overseas sales. They argue this change would streamline customs and boost small-seller access to global markets, supporting India’s $200–300 billion e-commerce export vision by 2030. Retailer groups opposed any easing, warning it would distort competition and disadvantage small traders.
