Broadcom’s Proposed $61B VMware Acquisition Scrutinized By UK Regulators

<p>The planned merger between Broadcom and VMware has been the subject of an investigation by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which is trying to assess if it will harm competition. An agreement to buy VMware for $61 billion in stock and cash was initially disclosed by infrastructure software and semiconductor company Broadcom in May. Tracy Woo, a senior analyst with Forrester, noted that Broadcom had a bad track record when it comes to prior acquisitions.</p>
