Accounting giant Deloitte agreed to pay $21.5 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice investigation alleging its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices violated federal contractor non-discrimination rules. The DOJ claimed Deloitte evaluated promotions based on demographic goals and limited certain programs by race or sex. Deloitte denied liability, stating it settled to avoid costly litigation. whistleblower group American Alliance for Equal Rights receives $4.3 million.
