The European Union has fined Alibaba's AliExpress €550 million ($629 million)—its largest penalty yet under the Digital Services Act—for failing to curb illegal, unsafe, and counterfeit items on its platform. Regulators found weak seller compliance checks and flawed moderation systems that let dangerous products stay online for weeks.
