Cybercrimes surged 12% in the past year : NRCB

<p>The National Crime Records Bureau has said that cybercrimes increased by 12% in 2020, while other crimes were reduced due to nationwide lockdown. A total of 50,035 crimes were registered, with UP accounting for over 20%. However, the numbers may not represent the full picture, with companies wary of registering a complaint due to privacy concerns and fear of "other trouble in future". The conviction rate, however, for cyber crimes stood at 68%.</p>
