Disney to Pay $10M to Settle FTC Allegations of Illegally Collecting Children’s Data

Disney has agreed to pay a $10 million settlement to resolve charges from the Federal Trade Commission that it improperly collected personal data from children through YouTube. The FTC found that Disney mislabeled popular kids' cartoons—such as The Incredibles and Frozen—not marking them as “Made for Kids,” thereby enabling targeted ads and unauthorized data collection under COPPA.
