EU Slaps Google with €2.95B Antitrust Fine Over AdTech Self-Preference

The European Commission has fined Google €2.95 billion (approx. $3.45–3.5 billion) for abusing its dominance in digital advertising tech by favoring its own ad services—marking its fourth major EU antitrust penalty. Google must halt “self-preferencing practices” and address conflicts of interest. The company has 60 days to propose remedies; otherwise, forced divestiture of parts of its ad-tech business could follow.
