Europe Unveils AI Strategy to Cut Dependence on US & China
The European Union is developing a new “Apply AI Strategy” backed by €1 billion to reduce its dependence on U.S. and Chinese AI infrastructure and software. The plan emphasizes sovereignty and resilience by promoting Europe-built AI platforms, particularly in defense, healthcare, and manufacturing. It warns that external dependencies in the AI stack could be weaponized, urging a shift toward indigenous solutions.
