Foxconn-HCL JV Secures $435M Approval for Semiconductor Plant in India to Boost Apple Chip Production

India's cabinet has approved a $435 million investment by Foxconn and HCL Group to establish a semiconductor plant near Jewar Airport in Uttar Pradesh. The facility, expected to commence operations by 2027, will focus on assembling and testing display driver chips for devices like smartphones and laptops. This initiative aligns with Apple's strategy to diversify manufacturing beyond China and supports India's ambition to become a global electronics manufacturing hub.
