Google Bets $468M on European Fusion, But Warns Success Isn’t Guaranteed

Google has joined a $468 million (€411 million) funding round for Germany’s Proxima Fusion to help construct Europe's first commercial nuclear fusion plant. The investment values the startup at $2.7 billion. While Google praised fusion's massive potential as a clean, abundant energy source, it issued a caution, noting that commercializing the technology remains immensely challenging and success is not guaranteed.
