Hardwired for Speed: AMD Buys Startup Taalas to Boost AI Inference
By TechShots Studio

AMD has acquired Toronto-based AI chip startup Taalas for an undisclosed sum, accelerating its push into high-speed AI inference workloads. Taalas specializes in custom silicon that bakes AI model weights directly into hardware to bypass traditional memory bottlenecks. AMD plans to integrate this ultra-fast, low-latency technology across its Instinct GPUs and Helios servers to challenge Nvidia as AI demand shifts from training to real-time deployment.
