I&B Ministry Forms Task Force to Counter $2.5B Media Piracy Loss in India
Amid a staggering $2.5 billion revenue loss to piracy, India’s Information & Broadcasting Ministry has established a dedicated task force. Announced by Secretary Sanjay Jaju to the Confederation of Indian Industry, the unit aims to swiftly remove leaked films—often within 24 hours—and collaborate with CII for anti-piracy challenges and enforcement strategies. The move reflects urgent industry pressure to protect intellectual property and revenue in the entertainment sector.
