IBM, Samsung reveals major advancement in semiconductor design

<p>IBM and Samsung announced advances in semiconductor design that could allow cell phone batteries to last a week without being charged. In comparison to a FinFET transistor, the new VTFET design is densely packed onto a computer chip. The VTFET directs electrical current vertically, allowing faster transistor switching speed and lower power consumption. However, neither company has stated when the tech will be available for official chip manufacturing.<br />
