India apex court seeks confirmation if Whatsapp following data localisation norms

<p>The Supreme Court of India has asked the central bank to report within six weeks if Whatsapp, which is ready to launch its peer-to-peer payment service – has complied with the data localisation norms. The Indian central bank last year has come out with the directive that all payments data should be stored in the country for “unfettered supervisory access”.</p>
