India Boasts 20% of Global Chip-Design Engineers; Semiconductor Demand

India now employs about 20% of the world’s semiconductor design engineers, making it a pivotal hub in global chip development efforts. As per L&T Semiconductor Technologies, the country’s semiconductor consumption is projected to soar from $24 billion today to over $100–120 billion by 2030, reflecting explosive demand growth. The combination of robust talent and rising domestic need positions India as a key player in the semiconductor ecosystem.
