Joelle Pineau, Meta's Head of AI Research, Announces Departure Amid AI Expansion

Joelle Pineau, Meta's Vice President of AI Research, has announced her decision to leave the company effective May 30, after nearly eight years of service. During her tenure, Pineau led the Fundamental AI Research group (FAIR) and was instrumental in developing open-source AI models, including Llama. Her departure coincides with Meta's plans to invest $65 billion in AI infrastructure in 2025. ​
