Merchants Face Debits on UPI Credit Card Transactions
Merchants are seeing unexpected deductions on their UPI settlements due to the rising use of RuPay credit cards and credit lines on the platform. While government policy makes savings account-based UPI free, these new credit-based transactions attract a Merchant Discount Rate (MDR). Mid-sized retailers, accustomed to zero-cost UPI, are facing confusion over the small levies.
