Meta is fighting to get UK order to sell Giphy overturned

<p>Meta began an appeal against the UK's decision to force it to sell Giphy. It claimed that the rival Snap offered significantly less for the animated-images provider weakened the rationale used to deny the agreement. Last year, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK ordered Meta to sell Giphy, which it bought in 2020. According to the report, the deal might allow the owner of Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp to limit competitors' access to GIFs.</p>
