Microsoft, tech firms are taking down botnets ahead of US elections

<p>A coalition of tech firms – spearheaded by Microsoft – begun dismantling one of the world’s most dangerous botnets to preempt disruptive cyberattacks ahead of US presidential election. If the operation succeeds, it will disable a global network of botnets created by popular malicious software Trickbot. Microsoft purposely infected a computer with Trickbot to study its functioning and derive a solution to disrupt the software that started out as a banking Trojan.</p>
