Microsoft to Invest Over $7 Billion in Wisconsin AI Data Centers

Microsoft is expanding its investment in Wisconsin with a second massive AI data center project, pushing total spending in the state to just over $7 billion. The initial facility in Mount Pleasant (worth $3.3B) is expected to open in early 2026 with around 500 employees, rising to 800 once the new one is complete. The site is set to house one of the world’s most powerful AI supercomputers using Nvidia chips. Microsoft is pre-paying for electrical infrastructure and will use cooling systems.
