MoonPay CEO & CFO Scammed of $250K in Fake Trump Inauguration Crypto Fraud
A DOJ complaint reveals MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto‑Wright and CFO Mouna Ammari Siala were defrauded of $250,000 in Ethereum by scammers posing as Steve Witkoff from Trump’s inaugural committee. The fraudulent email used a deceptive address (“t47lnaugural.com” with a lowercase “L”). The funds were sent to a fake wallet and laundered; only about $40,300 has been recovered. The scheme, likely linked to Nigeria, highlights crypto vulnerabilities—even among insiders.
