NCLAT Mandates User Consent for All WhatsApp Data Sharing

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) clarified its ruling, stating that WhatsApp and Meta must obtain a user's express and revocable consent for collecting and sharing data for all non-WhatsApp purposes, including both advertising and non-advertising. The tribunal noted that the appellants cannot claim unilateral rights over user data.
