Neon Ranks #2 in Apple Store After Paying Users to Record Phone Calls

Neon, a social app on the U.S. Apple App Store, is paying users to record their phone calls—30¢ per minute for calls with other Neon users, up to $30/day for calls with non-users. The app then sells that call data to AI companies for training models. While users grant very broad rights to Neon over recordings, the company claims they anonymize personal info. Privacy experts warn about risks of voice misuse and vague data practices.
