OpenAI Ownership Shifts: Microsoft Holds 27% Stake Post-Restructuring
Following its reconstitution as a public benefit corporation (PBC), OpenAI has redefined its ownership structure. Microsoft's equity position is now set at 27%, with the OpenAI Foundation retaining 26% and investors/employees sharing the rest. The restructuring enhances OpenAI's independence while preserving Microsoft's exclusive Azure API rights until the verified development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
