OpenAI Projects Massive $115 B Cash Burn Through 2029 Amid Soaring AI Costs
OpenAI raised its projected cash burn through 2029 to $115 billion—about $80 billion more than earlier estimates—and now expects to spend over $8 billion in 2025. Forecasts show burn rising to >$17 billion in 2026, $35 billion in 2027 and $45 billion in 2028. To curb costs it plans in-house AI chips with Broadcom, expanded Oracle and Google Cloud deals, and major data-centre investments under its Stargate initiative at scale.
