Ypsilanti Township in Michigan approved a six-month moratorium on major electrical utility infrastructure to stall a proposed $1.2 billion hyperscale data center. Backed by the University of Michigan and Los Alamos National Laboratory, the facility will support nuclear weapons research. Instead of banning the project directly, local leaders are using the six-month study break to evaluate noise, environmental impacts, and grid demands.
