Silicon Valley, Meet Silicon Carbide: Bosch Boots Up First US Chip Plant

German engineering giant Bosch has launched sample production of energy-efficient silicon carbide chips at its reconfigured $2 billion California facility. Supported by a $225 million federal CHIPS grant, the plant aims to secure domestic supply chains for electric vehicles, hybrids, defense, and AI data centers. Commercial production is slated to begin later this year.
