Sony Suspends Memory Card Orders in Japan Amid Global Semiconductor Crisis

Sony has temporarily halted orders for nearly its entire lineup of SD and CFexpress memory cards in Japan, citing a severe shortage of semiconductors. The suspension, effective March 27, 2026, impacts both authorized dealers and direct customers as AI data centers increasingly consume the global supply of NAND flash memory. While existing stock remains available at some retailers, Sony has provided no timeline for when production and sales will resume.
