Steam Removes 'BlockBlasters' Game After Crypto Malware Steals Over $150K
Steam has removed the free-to-play 2D platformer BlockBlasters after it was discovered to contain malware designed to steal cryptocurrency from players. The game, published by Genesis Interactive, was quietly updated on August 30 to include a cryptodrainer, leading to over $150,000 in stolen funds. The malware primarily targeted streamers through a spearphishing campaign, with one Latvian streamer losing $32,000 intended for cancer treatment.
