Three Australian Telecom Firms Fined For False Internet Speed Claims

<p>Three Australian telecommunications companies have been sentenced by a court to pay A$33.5 million ($22.08 million) in fines for making false representations regarding the speeds of various NBN internet contracts. The Australian Federal Court has ordered Telstra to pay A$15 million, a unit of TPG Telecom to pay A$5 million, and Optus, a unit of Singapore Telecommunications, to pay A$13.5 million, according to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC).</p>
