TRAI Maintains 4% Satcom Spectrum Fee, Rejects DoT Hike

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) rejected the Department of Telecommunications' (DoT) proposal to raise the annual spectrum charge for satellite communication (satcom) to 5%. TRAI maintained its recommendation of a 4% Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) levy, along with a ₹500 per urban subscriber charge, while exempting rural areas. TRAI's stance is to incentivize service expansion to remote regions and bridge the digital divide.
