TSMC Seeks Approval for $49B A14 Chip Fab in Central Taiwan to Accelerate AI Innovation

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has applied for a permit to construct an advanced A14 fabrication plant in the Central Taiwan Science Park. The facility aims to produce 1.4nm wafers, offering 15% faster performance and 30% better power efficiency than the current 2nm process. With an initial investment of $49 billion, the plant is expected to generate $15.87 billion in annual production value and create approximately 4,500 jobs.
