U.S. Game Console Spending Surges 32% Thanks to Switch 2

U.S. consumer spending on game consoles jumped 32% year-over-year to $312 million, largely driven by the launch of Nintendo’s Switch 2 and hardware price hikes due to tariffs. Although unit sales rose only 6.5%, rising costs on models like Xbox and PlayStation accounted for most of the spending increase. The Switch 2 eclipsed 2.4 million sales in its first three months, setting a new console launch record.
