Wall Street Bets Big on Compute: Banks Line Up $22B AI Chip Loan

A 10-bank consortium including Goldman Sachs and Barclays is providing a $22 billion loan to Crux AI, a cloud venture between Blackstone and Alphabet. The debt will directly fund purchases of Google’s specialized Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). Highlighted as one of the largest AI hardware financings to date, the loan relies on the chips themselves and customer contracts as collateral.
