White House Clarifies H-1B Fee Policy, Offering Relief to Laid-off Tech Workers
The White House has clarified that the new US $100,000 fee for H-1B visas applies only to new petitions, not to renewals or existing H-1B holders. Experts believe this exemption could help tech professionals recently laid off from firms like Microsoft, Oracle, Intel, and AWS, by making them more attractive hires—companies can rehire them without the extra cost of a fresh application.
