Bytes over Booklets: India to Deploy AI for Smart Regulatory Standards

The Consumer Affairs Ministry is integrating AI to convert complex, multi-page Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) regulations into machine-readable, digital rules. Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare stated this shift transforms the BIS into a facilitator to slash compliance burdens for manufacturers. The initiative aims to enhance production quality and accelerate economic growth to support the country's "Viksit Bharat 2047" vision.
