Australia Targets Amazon for Tricking Prime Video Streamers

Australia’s competition watchdog, the ACCC, is suing Amazon’s local and US units over "unfair" contract terms. The regulator alleges Amazon breached consumer laws by force-introducing advertisements to over one million existing annual Prime subscribers. Despite paying upfront for an ad-free experience, users were forced to pay an extra A$2.99 per month to remove commercials, with no option for a refund.
